DiMA: Congress Should Promote Online Video Competition, Innovation

(Washington, D.C.)  Gregory Barnes, Director of Government Affairs for the Digital Media Association issued this statement following today's Senate Commerce Committee hearing on the "The Emergence of Online Video: Is It the Future?":

"Online video distributors are continually developing dynamic new platforms that provide consumers with flexible and affordable viewing options. The continued growth of this innovative industry depends largely on the ability of IP-based video distributors to compete on a level playing field that doesn't favor one distribution system over another. Hopefully, as a result of today's hearing, federal policymakers will examine these issues with an eye towards promoting greater competition and innovation - while improving the average consumer's overall viewing experience."
