DiMA Urges House and Senate Judiciary Committee Members to Support Performance Royalty Parity for Internet, Cable and Satellite Radio
(Washington, D.C. – November 3, 2010) – The Digital Media Association sent letters this week to Senate and House Judiciary Committee leadership, urging policymakers to ensure royalty parity across all radio platforms when Congress re-engages in the debate over performance rights.
The letters followed last week’s proposal by the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) to the musicFIRST Coalition, offering for the first time to compensate performers for their over-the-air broadcasts. DiMA acknowledged this as a positive step, and expressed hope that policymakers will recognize the importance of a level playing field for all radio as clearly best for music consumers, music creators and radio service providers.
