Washington, D.C. (December 10, 2010) The Digital Media Association (DiMA) submitted comments today in response to the request of the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Internet Policy Task Force as part of its efforts to encourage public discussion of online copyright policy in the United States.  Lee Knife, Interim Executive Director of the Digital Media Association, issued the following statement:

“DiMA and its members appreciate the Internet Policy Task Force’s efforts to address the challenge of enabling creative rights holders to profit in the digital age and to combat threats that copyright infringement, while also maintaining robust information flows that facilitate innovation and growth of the Internet economy and safeguard end-user interests in freedom of expression, due process, and privacy.

“DiMA member companies, as providers of legitimate services that offer copyrighted works in new, attractive and compelling formats, are a key part of the innovation and growth of the Internet economy.  Promoting a framework that encourages this innovation will not only increase revenues for rights holders as well as digital media companies, but it will also make it more difficult and for those who would infringe on those rights.”
